Susan Miyachi brings together the visual magnificence of living on three islands of Hawaii: Maui, Lanai, and Oahu. Vibrant colors in Hawaiian jungles soaked in green with sudden bursts of red and orange flora ... the wetness of the jungles ... cliffs with razor edges piercing a delicate floating mist ... radiance in quiet gardens and in shimmering fresh water ponds. Soft tradewinds bringing their tranquility to these islands. "I want the viewer to experience this," says Susan.
"I try to capture the rustle and movement of the 'light-play' on the water. The light in Hawaii is unique, different from California's lighting, for example. I hope that my palette knife work invites the viewer into the sensation of being transported to the location I am painting."
"I want to touch lives, by infusing people's souls with beauty, because beauty is God's tremendous love to us. He didn't have to make it so beautiful for us ... so many colors, the blues and greens and turquoises, the splendor and design and precision and exact symmetry in the tiniest pea size flower ... but he did, just because of love."
