Lured by the awesome beauty of Hawaii, Michael Van Dorn was drawn to the islands from Southern California in 1968. Teaching public school on Oahu for many years, he spent his free time exploring these magnificent mountains, seas, and skies. His experience hiking, sailing, surfing, and hang gliding sharpened his eye and inspired him to capture Hawaii's beauty on canvas. Michael's paintings are often portrayed with a touch of fantasy and feeling of nostalgia for simpler times gone by when man was in tune with nature.
