Welcome to Sunshine Arts Online. Sunshine Arts began as a modest mat cutting business started by Jim Franklin out of his apartment in Waikiki in 1996 with his last $20.00, a used mat cutter, and a borrowed $100.00. A year later Jim was offered a commercial location in a vacated building on the Windward side of Oahu. At first he said no because of the poor condition of the building and the location on the other side of the island. But upon further consideration and the low rent factor, Jim accepted the offer and moved into the building, located on the only road on that side of the island. His vision was that if you visit Oahu and take a drive around the island, you will have to drive by Sunshine Arts! Over the years, Jim has improved the building and built a strong business. Today Sunshine Arts is celebrating 10 years in Hawaii, representing over 60 local and mainland artists, with a 3600 square foot gallery as well as a full service custom picture framing department and a wholesale mat department.
