A. La Moyne Garside has traveled and painted throughout the Pacific. His interpretation of the islands and the people of Polynesia, Micronesia, and part of Melanesia may be representational or abstract, depending on the subject and moment in time. His works are found in private collections in Hawaii, Europe, the Middle East, England, and the United States. Recent commissions include paintings for the Polynesian Cultural Center and Kualoa Ranch on the island of Oahu.
In addition to painting, the artist creates works in sculpture, drawing, and printmaking. Garside's art has been featured in many exhibitions, including the International Cultural Exchange Exhibition in Canada, the Artists of Hawaii Exhibition, and the Easter Island Festival. His awards include a Fulbright Grant to study in Italy and the Edwin R. Rowe Trophy for Landscape Painting.
