Helen Iaea

Helen began her career working in oils and she taught the Gloria Foss Color 1 oil painting course for 5 years.  Then her focus shifted to acrylics and pastels, eventually adding watercolor to her repertoire.  She is a Signature Member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society, and has served as its President, Vice-President, and Exhibit Chair.  From 1990-2005 Helen was very active in HWS by bringing nationally recognized artists to Hawaii to give workshops.  In 2001 she helped form Pastel Artists of Hawaii, a non-profit group interested in the awareness and advancement of soft pastels.

Helen's work may be seen in several galleries in Hawaii and her paintings are included in the collections of the State Foundation, Aloha Airlines, and others.  She has won numerous awards including Best-of-Show and the Winsor Newton Award, and was a featured artist in the Yearbook 2001 issue of the "Watercolor Magic" magazine article, "One to Watch."  Helen offers classes in both watercolor and pastel at Hawaiian Graphics in Honolulu.
