Lonely Planet Review

In the latest version of the Lonely Planet guide book, Sunshine Arts Gallery is reviewed as a publication favorite with an 'our pick' stamp. “Reproduced with permission from Honolulu, Waikiki & Oahu © 2009 Lonely Planet”.

The review on page 182 reads:

With the slogan 'artwork from paradise' this notable gallery represents 60 island artists, mostly painters, printmakers and photographers. But some of the most irresistible works are made of hand-blown glass, potter's clay and carved stone, bamboo and koa wood. Despite bold, colorful murals emblazoned on the exterior, this gallery is easy to miss; it's a half-mile south of the turn-off to Senator Fong's Gardens.

The Gallery listing also has a 'green hibiscus' next to it indicating that we are a green business or eco-friendly. To receive this designation a business must demonstrate an active sustainable-tourism policy. Some are involved in conservation or environmental education; be interested in maintaining and preserving Hawaiian identity and culture.
